Bahrain Vision 2030
Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 is a long-term economic development plan promulgated in 2008 by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to guide development Bahrain’s economy and society for the next twenty-one years. Vision 2030 pledges to improve the Bahraini standards of living as well as reform the government, education, health sectors, increase privatization, and enhance the quality of life. It endorses a competitive global economy driven by a thriving private sector. Vision 2030 also underscores the role of all Bahrainis and aims to raise incomes and quality of life for all societal segments, by setting out forward-looking policies in such critical areas as education, health care, infrastructure, and the environment. Social security and social justice are also accorded attention, with a focus on subsidies for water, electricity, gasoline, and food for the needy, housing support, and a high standard of social assistance.
