Moving on from the Raffles City complex in Singapore is Carlos Monterde. Formerly the hotel manager at Fairmont Singapore, he is now the general manager of Fairmont Jakarta. Monterde was appointed to lead the pre-opening team of the Hotel that opened in the first quarter of 2015.

Carlos Monterde, General Manager of Fairmont Jakarta talks about Fairmont's presence in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Fairmont Jakarta comprises of 488 guestrooms and suites. Since opened in January 2015, its business performance has been on pace with the growth that have been forecasted. The average occupancy rate of Fairmont Jakarta is in line with the competitors in the market. Even though there has been a decline in overall demand for hotel rooms in the city due to some challenges in global economy, but there are strong indications pointing in the direction of financial recovery of the economy by 2017. This is something that we, as a business community, are very optimistic with.
One of the unique selling points of Fairmont Jakarta is its location. It is nestled in one of the most prestigious areas in Jakarta, which is Senayan. The location itself offers the best of the city at your doorstep, from the high-end office towers, shopping and entertainment centers, golf course to one of the biggest sports stadium in Southeast Asia, Gelora Bung Karno.
Gelora Bung Karno is also home for the 2018 Asian Games. Currently a lot of preparations are taking place for the event. From the tourism point of view, such international event is expected to boost the overall economy in Indonesia, and specifically in Jakarta, that includes hotels in general.
