Keli Gadzekpo is the co-founder of Databank, a firm that provides corporate and public finance advisory services to companies in Ghana. Gadzekpo has been responsible for the overall financial and administrative management of the firm, leading it to become one of the most prominent businesses in its sector. For over 20 years, Databank has spread substantially across Ghana and beyond, extending its branches to Liberia and Gambia. Much of the firm’s success is due to Gadzekpo’s innovative thinking, earning him the ninth (9th) spot on Marcopolis’ list of most influential entrepreneurs in Ghana.
Gadzekpo studied at Brigham Young University, where he received his Bachelors Degree in accounting. He continued his education at Harvard Kennedy School of Government, earning his Masters in Public Administration. His background consists of a variety of duties, including operational management, financial engineering, and accounting. Gadzekpo gained lots of valuable experiences working at KPMG Peat Marwick in Washington DC, which is one of the largest professional services companies in the world. Furthermore, he previously worked at Steuart Petroleum, as well, in a number of capacities. Enterprise Group Limited, the largest privately owned Insurance company in Ghana, is another company that entrusted their operations in the hands of Gadzekpo. As the CEO, he leads the company to success with his skills and over 15 years of experience.
Databank Foundation, which is the corporate social responsibility arm of the company, is headed by Gadzekpo. During his time as Chairman of the Databank Foundation, he has focused on three crucial areas: leadership development, education, and mental health. He is also a member of the Index Advisory Council of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, which is an African good governance initiative. Moreover, he is on the boards of several organizations, including Home Finance Company of Gambia, The Roman Ridge, the Nature Conservation Research center, and Enterprise Group Limited.
For the most part, Gadzekpo, like many other Ghanaian public figures, chooses to keep his personal life private. He is married to a woman named Faake, and they have two children together, named Mawuena and Mifatu. However, we won’t hear much about them, as Gadzekpo prefers to publicize his companies, rather than his personal life.
Gadzekpo’s many endeavors have earned him Marcopolis’ ninth (9th) spot on Ghana’s most influential businessmen’s list, as well as Goodman AMC’s list of Ghana’s most wealthiest, with an estimated net worth of $235 million. His involvement in setting up Databank has turned the firm into one of West Africa’s most successful financial enterprises, and has turned Keli Gadzekpo into one of Ghana’s most accomplished and well-known entrepreneurs.
