Simon Dornoo, Managing Director of Ghana Commercial Bank, possesses a wealth of banking and finance experience that lands him the eighth (8th) spot on Marcopolis’ most influential businessmen of Ghana.
Dornoo earned his Masters of Business Administration from Manchester Business School in the United Kingdom. Furthermore, he is a Chartered Accountant by profession and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ghana.
In 1985, Dornoo began his careerworking as an Audit Senior at KPMG, Ghana’s most respected accounting and business advisory firms. Five years later, he moved on to CAL Bank, positioned as the first Financial Controller.
Before taking his position at GCB, Dornoo spent a considerable amount of time in his career working with Barclay’s Bank, where he held various senior management positions, including Country Treasurer. Perhaps his most significant position at Barclays was Finance Director, which made him the first African to be appointed the position for Barclays Africa.
Dornoo has served on various Boards in the financial services sector, such as Ghana International Bank, Ghana Community Network Services, Development Finance & Holdings, and of course, Ghana Commercial Bank.
Dornoo has dedicated himself to the GCB and is well placed to lead Ghana’s largest bank. The public will rarely read about his personal life, but rather his extensive work experience and accomplishments.
