The current low price of the oil sector, among other factors, is affecting the economy in Jakarta in general, including the hotel industry. The demand for hotel rooms has experienced some sort of decline. But there have been indicators for positive outlook in 2017 which business communities are very optimistic with.

Jakarta has been showing quite a promising progress in overcoming its challenges. There is now a stable government, which is always a strong point in favor of a country. The current government, both the city government of Jakarta of the overall country, seems to be well-accepted. They are now known for being well-intended and making a lot of efforts to get things right to create the right environment for the country. The government has also made investment in the infrastructure and other areas needed to boost overall development in Indonesia.

If all these efforts continue working consistently, while government remains stable, Jakarta and Indonesia in general for sure will see a brighter future.

What has been done by Indonesia to boost its tourism sector?

A lot of efforts have been taken by the government in general to put things in the right place and ensure the country develops in the right pace.

We’ve seen some campaigns being shown to promote various destinations in Indonesia. This also helps develop the luxury segment, as well as other areas.

Nevertheless, there are also things that need to come together with promoting the destinations, for example the infrastructure. It is a basic necessity for tourists to be able to reach the destinations and to find proper services and facilities to enable them enjoy the destinations.  On one side, the lack of infrastructure could actually be beneficial for those traveling to explore places that are still unexploited, and discover the beauty of natural sites. However, this is not always the case. When traveling, people tend to need a certain level of convenience and comfort. This is where the availability of proper infrastructure and the quality of service and products offered by hospitality establishments like Fairmont Jakarta plays an important role in tourism industry.
