The UAE continues its dominance in mobile penetration rates

According to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), the two mobile network operators (Etisalat and du) added nearly 614,000 new mobile subscribers in the first 11 months of 2011, boosting the total number of subscribers to 11.54 million.

With revised population estimates from five million to nearly eight million in 2011, the TRA calculated the mobile penetration rate in the region of 197%. This recent statistic confirms the UAE’s place as having the highest mobile penetration rates.
